Ok, I left the Taupo Eruption Pale Ale bottles back-carbonating too long, but finally cold-crashed it and tried one. Sure enough, it's a bit over-carbonated, with a rich persistent foamy head.
Not much of a nose to this one, and lots of bottle trub (sediment), but a quite reasonable hoppy pale ale, similar in body, taste and aftertaste to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
Overall, pretty drinkable. It was missing all the tropical fruitiness I was going for, but still a good beer.
